Holistic Management Plan & Fire Plan

At Harcourt Farming Co-op, we farm using organic and regenerative principles, and were certified organic from 2008 until mid-2025.

In the past, certification helped us access certain markets, but now that all our marketing is direct to consumer, we no longer need that formal label.

Our commitment to organic farming hasn’t changed! We keep things transparent by sharing our Holistic Management Plan, building strong connections with our customers and community, and welcoming questions about how we farm.

HFC Fire Plan

Our fire plan has been developed and refined over the lifetime of the co-op. We share it here in a spirit of showing what works for us, and recommend people develop their own fire plans to suit your particular circumstances.

Our fire plan was tested in the Ravenswood and Harcourt fire that started on January 9, 2026. Tess, Hugh, and Katie successfully implemented the plan to stay and defend the farm. We were fortunate that the fire came very close to the property on 3 sides, but didn’t enter the property at any stage.
